This is not true. Choose colours that look nice together, but don't fall into the trap that you all need to be wearing the exact same outfit or colour. Co-ordinating is far better than matching as your photos with look more interesting with some variation.

Family Photography SouthendFamily Photography SouthendFamily photo shoot Southend

I always recommend having at least three core colours in your palette. After you've selected your own outfit, take a look at the accent colours in it and use those to tie in the outfits of everyone else. For example if you are wearing a cream dress with blush accents/accessories and brown leather shoes (your primary colour is cream), your partner could wear navy trousers with a simple or blue shirt and a tan blazer (their primary colour being tan). One child could wear a blush dress with cream accents and another child could wear khaki trousers with a cream shirt and a navy jacket.

Here are some ideas of colour palettes that I have put together for the autumn.

As you can see, starting with one core colour can have many complimentary and contrasting colours that work well together.

Stay away from busy patterns and tight checks, stripes or plaids and no logos. Matching denim and neutrals are a great combo. The goal is for you to look great, but we want the focus to be on you, not your clothes.

How to Protect Your Personal Brand on Social Media https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2021/8/how-to-protect-your-personal-brand-on-social-media First impressions happen in the blink of an eye. Whether it’s face to face or over social media, people will quickly and easily form an opinion about you based on what they see. The reality is that social media plays a major role in how people perceive us online, even more so when you’re trying to build or run a business.

If you want to make sure that social media doesn’t damage your personal brand, here are a few guidelines that you can follow.

Reserve Your Handles and Domains

Even if you're not using certain social media platforms just yet, it’s best to reserve your handles as soon as you can – the same goes for your domain. If you are just getting started on social media, try and have the same handle, or at least similar handles, across all platforms.

Perfect Your Bio

An inconsistent bio is not going to do your personal brand any favours. The best thing you can do is turn your elevator pitch into a bio and to ensure that you’re using the same bio across all platforms. You also want to have professional headshots taken to create a good and lasting first impression.

Business Headshots BrentwoodBusiness Headshots Brentwood Business Headshot Photography BrentwoodBusiness Headshot Photography BrentwoodBusiness Headshot Photography Brentwood

Think Twice about Your Content

Be selective about the content and social media posts that you publish. Everything you post online has the potential to be stuck online forever, which means it will forever be associated with your personal brand. Consider the words as well as the images you will be using – are they a true representation of your personal brand.

Be Consistent

If you want to market your personal brand online, consistency is key. You can’t post something whenever the mood strikes, not if you want to build trust and a sound reputation. Plan your social media posts and blog posts so that your audience is hearing from you on a regular basis. It’s also important to keep an eye on comments and to engage with your audience in a meaningful way.

Social media can be a powerful personal branding tool, but only if you are committed to keeping your profiles updated and are staying consistent and engaged.

Why Personal Branding Photography is a Must for Entrepreneurs https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2021/7/why-personal-branding-photography-is-a-must-for-entrepreneurs Visuals play a crucial role in how you portray your personal brand to your customers and clients. It’s important to remember that customers shop with their eyes and will often make decisions based on their first impression of someone.

Personal Branding Photography BasildonPersonal Branding Photography Basildon

Personal branding involves influencing the way potential customers see you and view your products or services, which is why personal branding photography can have such a massive impact. Professional photos are an asset and will serve you for years to come. Here are a few of the ways that you would benefit from taking professional personal branding photos.

1. Send them with your press releases

If you usually send out press releases or are planning to in the coming year, professional photos will help your submission stand out.

Business portrait photography BrentwoodBusiness portrait photography Brentwood

2. Use them throughout your website

Businesses that feature professional photos of real people inspire more trust than those that use stock photos. Real photos also help tell your business story more authentically. At the very least, you should always have a professional headshot on your website so that potential customers know who they are doing business with.

3. Place them in your email campaigns

Take your email blasts to the next level by including your photo in them.

Business portrait photographer BasildonBusiness portrait photographer Basildon

4. Include them on your landing pages

If you rely on landing pages to help you generate sales, adding personal branding photography to them can boost your results.

5. Create a killer bio for events

Speaking at an upcoming event? Make sure that you have a professional headshot and branding photos on hand to send along with your bio.

Corporate event photographer ChelmsfordCorporate event photographer Chelmsford

6. Make your email signature memorable

Not everybody remembers a name but almost everyone can recall a face. Adding a photo to your email signature can make it more memorable.

7. Add them to your printed marketing materials

If you print your marketing materials on a regular basis, a photo can be used to make your brochures and business cards stand out.

8. Save time

When you’re approached by a publisher, you want to have a professional photo that you approve of on hand. When you rely on publications to take your photos, you need to rely on their photographers, many of which are students. This is your personal brand and you should have the final say in whom takes your photos. You also save time in the sense that you don’t need to take additional time out of your day for the photos because you’ll already have them at your disposal.

Remember to refresh your photos often so that your personal brand is also reflected accurately.

Meet Tina Wing QGPP, GPPBQ

I've been a professional photographer for 8 years.

Many women are good at prioritising others needs before their own, especially when we become mothers. As we move through life, our changing roles, and different careers, we constantly need to re-define, and sometimes, need to ‘find’ ourselves again.  We also want to look good for our businesses, but don’t like to be in front of a camera and are nervous of doing this. I will work with you to create personal branding images that will empower you, and to show the world the influential business woman that you are.

I empower female entrepreneurs with stunning branding photography so that they have an influential online presence.

Volunteers Week 2021 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2021/6/volunteers-week-2021 As a business, I have three charities that I support - The Scouts, Girlguiding and the Essex Wildlife Trust as a Corporate Member. I volunteer my time for both organisations by running a Brownie pack and being the Social Media Manager for Essex Scouts. I can also be regularly found as part of the media team creating amazing event coverage and all from a tent in the middle of a field.

Throughout the pandemic we have not been able to meet face to face, and have instead held meetings by Zoom for Brownies. This has been an amazing feat for the last 14 months, and I'm so looking forward to getting back to outdoor meetings for the remainder of the summer term. It has been so important, to not only the Brownies, but also the leaders, to have had one regular thing that happened each week. We have seen so many Brownies achieving interest badges, theme awards and section bronze, silver and gold awards. Opportunities that these young ladies would have missed otherwise.

I have also been very busy with Essex Scouts making sure that everyone is kept up to date with the latest information, especially at the start of the pandemic.

Obviously no large scale events have taken place, and Jamborees have been cancelled for some years ahead. I thought I would share a few photos from our last Scout Content ASU event at Gilwell Park, Wintercamp 2020.

Volunteering can be so rewarding and I can't recommend it enough. It has hugely benefitted myself and my business. I've also made some amazing friends all over the world as well.

Would You Like a FREE Food Social Media Calendar for January 2021? https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2020/12/would-you-like-a-free-food-social-media-calendar-for-january-2021 If you are managing the social media content for your food business, then it is vital to have a content planner.

Preparing a schedule for the month ahead makes sure you capitalise on those national days, and creates plenty of content for your different social media platforms.

I've pulled together lots of events that are happening across January to help you plan, and to help you increase your sales.

Now that the feasting of Christmas has finished, and we start 2021 with our New Years resolutions firmly in hand, one of them needs to be to plan your social media.

January is a long month, and with the current restrictions in place, you are going to have to be creative to attract customers for your take away or click and collect service.

We have a few monthly events in January - Veganuary, Dry January, and in complete contrast, Ginuary. If you have an off licence, you might consider offering special gin cocktails with your meals, or gin inspired dishes and desserts.

Veganuary celebrates all that is vegan, and gives great scope for developing your vegan menus for this increasingly popular way of eating.

There is a sprinkling of international days too, with sticky toffee pudding day and chocolate cake day (my favourite this month). Try putting a further twist on the cake with a vegan version.

Also in the mixture we have some national days with shortbread day, cheese lovers day and croissant day. A cheeseboard delivery box would be a great way for some additional revenue.

I'm loving the sound of Brew Monday, especially as it falls on Blue Monday. What better way to cheer yourself up?

And not forgetting national celebrations on New Years Day and Burns Night.

Make sure you add the relevant hashtags to your social media posts too to increase your exposure to new contacts and clients. Give me a follow on Instagram.

Christmas Present Ideas for the Essex Business Owner 2020 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2020/12/christmas-present-ideas-for-the-essex-business-owner Looking for present ideas for the business person in your life?

1. Local Produce

As a businesswoman I love to support other local businesses, and there is none other better than delicious cheese and cream direct from the award winning Bradfields Farm Dairy. I've already ordered mine, and can't wait to taste their new Cam cheese. You need to order by 20th, December for this unique gift. Perfect for that Christmas dinner table. Order at Bradfields Farm Order Form

2. Business Development

Following on from her very successful book Fight the Fear, Mandie Holgate spent Lockdown 1 writing her new book, Taking Control of Your Mind. This one is on my wishlist. Available to purchase on Amazon.

3. Super Business Branding

Did you know that a brand also includes the people? Customers like to connect with the person behind the business name. There is nothing more powerful than a really good business headshot which puts a face into a brand. This would give their business a great start to the New Year, so why not buy a headshot gift voucher, or even a personal branding session? Last orders for gift vouchers is 18th, December. e-Cards are available 24/7. You can purchase online at https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/photography-gift-vouchers

4. Afternoon Tea

When you run a business, it is important to get yourself out of the office, or even the home office, for a change of scene, and some 'me time'. The hospitality sector has been badly hit this year, so kill two birds with one stone, and support a local business at the same time with a Dandelion and Burdock Afternoon Tea box, or a gift voucher. Call on 01277 829772 or check out their website at Dandelion and Burdock.

Just a few ideas for you.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

I've pulled together lots of events that are happening across November to help you plan, and to build your content into your brand guidelines.

November is such a great month of bonfires, fireworks, and the beginning of the Christmas hussle and bustle.

I can't wait for 22nd for Stir Up Sunday to make my Christmas pudding.

November is a much quieter month than October was for food celebration days, but for those restaurants, cafes and takeaways with a vegan option, this is your month to shine, with not only World Vegan Day on 1st, November, but also World Vegan Month.

I'm really loving watching the Great British Bake Off this year. I think it has given everyone a great boost, and it's lovely to see it being filmed in Essex at Down Hall Hotel and Spa. Sorely tempted to try my hand at a pastry cage now!

I've pulled together lots of events that are happening across October to help you plan, and to build your content into your brand guidelines.

I just love everything about October. The colours of the trees, kicking through the fallen leaves, autumn walks with a bowlful of warming soup at the end, fungi, and of course Halloween.

There are a few celebration weeks happening this month which would be great for themed meals in cafes, pubs and restaurants. The 5th October sees the start of National Curry Week, and Seafood Week on the 9th. The 14th is National Baking Week, and with the return of the Great British Bake Off, it's the ideal time to hone into your client's sweet tooth. And to add to that, the 19th-25th is UK Coffee Week; an ideal companion to Baking Week.

National days feature World Vegetarian Day, World Egg Day, Apple Day and Nut Day to name just a few of them.

And, of course, October is the bewitching month with Pumpkin Day and Halloween.

Why should I use a professional photographer for my business? https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2020/7/why-should-i-use-a-professional-photographer-for-my-business I quite often get asked why a business should use a professional photographer.

Virtually everyone today has a camera on their phone and instantly at hand. We are taking selfies, making videos and countless images of our dinner all the time. It is a very sad fact that this is the most photographed generation ever, but they will have the least to show for it. How often have I seen requests on social media for desperate help as someone has just accidentally deleted all their photos from their phone? How often have you had a family gathering and got the old photo albums out to look back on to reminisce? Not quite the same as being huddled looking at a USB stick that no-one has anything to plug it into!

So why, as a business, in this easily accessible photographic world, should you still invest in professional photography? When you hire a photographer, you are not just getting someone who can press the shutter button. You are getting a highly trained individual that will consider your business brand and create a visual identity for you. They will have the creative eye with composition, colour and how to sculpture light to show you and your business at its best.  Your website is quite often your main shop front, so what do you think your visitors will think if they just see photos taken from your phone?

They will also make sure that you have the legal side covered with model releases, GDPR compliance, and image use agreements.

A highly skilled professional will be able to make the dullest conference, workshop or AGM look engaging and exciting with their visual story telling techniques.

Convention photographer EssexConvention photographer Essex

I think this quote sums it up quite well - "A brand is not just a logo, it's the overall impression and experience you give to your audience and customers. Your brand expresses the value you provide. It's you!" - Amy Locurto

And when the photos are finished you will have a beautiful set of consistent images that you can use across all your leaflets, publications, website and social media channels. That investment in a professional photographer is not looking quite as expensive now is it?

That’s all well and good I hear you say, but I can just grab a stock image for peanuts! You can and many people do, but can you imagine the embarrassment when you turn up to an exhibition and one of your competitors has the same image on their banner? You are also not showing your clients what makes you and your business unique, and tell the story behind the brand.

It’s an increasingly visual age living at speed, and you need to be able to tell your business message in an instant with imagery rather than words.

If you would like stunning imagery and a visual brand for your business, do get in touch. Business Photography

How Will Coronavirus Affect my Wedding? https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2020/3/how-will-coronavirus-affect-my-wedding Getting Married during Coronavirus

I'm sure you will all join me in agreeing we are now living in unprecedented times. I am still staggered by the events of this week and the many more possible months of disruption.

Although weddings happen all year round now, we are about to start gearing up for the busier time of year. Things are changing on a daily basis, so please do check for the current information. As things stand today, you might want to bear in mind the following when planning your wedding.

Essex County Council Update 25th, March 2020

Weddings at Cressing Temple Barns and the Essex Record Office are suspended until the end of June at the earliest.

If you have a ceremony due in the next four weeks, their registration team will be in contact with you as a priority. Further calls are being prioritised in date order.

They are unable to take any new bookings for weddings, civil partnerships or citizenship ceremonies at this time.

Venues

The government yesterday shut down all bars, pubs, gyms and similar public places. I have seen many venues also close their doors. Where venues are still open, I’ve also heard rumour that Registrars will stop operating very soon too.

Church of England

The church has reduced the number of people at a wedding to just five – the vicar, bride and groom, and two witnesses. This doesn’t even allow for two sets of parents, bridesmaids, best man or the photographer.

Wedding Dresses

A huge amount of dresses come from China, and whilst they appear to be over the worst there, you need to plan for extra delays in getting your dress.

Wedding photographer for the Old Rectory, BulphanWedding photographer for the Old Rectory, Bulphan

Insurance

Most insurance companies have now stopped selling cover for weddings, but if you took a policy about before this all started, check to see if you have cover.

Photographers

Whilst wedding photographers are a competitive bunch, we would never see a wedding couple be let down on their wedding day. We have Facebook groups and communities where we can call on a replacement photographer should your one become ill, and I have already seen several this week that have stepped up very short notice and photographed weddings.

Postponement

Many wedding couples are understandably very anxious about whether their day is going ahead. Sadly many of you will need to postpone to a later date. Many suppliers are being very supportive and are happy to transfer across to a new date. Many of your suppliers are small businesses though, so please consult fully with them on any new dates.

Small Businesses

Small businesses are really suffering, so if you see a restaurant post to say they are having to close, make sure you not only react to their posts, but also like their pages to give them support.

Social Distancing

During social distancing I have moved all my wedding consultations to online meetings. You can book one at Book Here.

Get my Wedding Day Top Tips at Wedding Day Top Tips

I have found an excellent blog on Guides for Brides which is being regularly updated. You can find it at Guides for Brides Blog.

I know planning a wedding at this time might be the least of the general public’s worry, and I am truly sorry if you have lost someone to this terrible illness. Stay safe and well.

Leap Year Traditions and Marriage Proposals https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2020/2/leap-year-traditions-and-marriage-proposals Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone
Which hath but twenty-eight, in fine,
Till leap year gives it twenty-nine.

– an old saying

It is a tradition that ladies can make marriage proposals once every 4 years on the 29th, February in a Leap Year. But why do we have Leap Years and how did this tradition start?

In the Gregorian Calendar we add 1 extra day every 4 years to re-align to the astronomical year on the 29th of February, except for when a year is divisible by 100, but not 400. 2000 was a Leap Year but 1900 wasn't. The Earth does not orbit the sun in exactly 365 days. Normally in the calendar, the days move forward 1 day each year, but in a Leap Year (which runs 1st, March - 28th, February), they move forward 2 days or 'leap' a day.

The origins of the proposal tradition are unclear, but there are fines if a man refuses the proposal. In Finland the man has to buy the fabric to make the lady a skirt, changing to a fur coat in the 20th century. It is believed that it all started in Ireland when St. Patrick is supposed to have granted St. Bridget one day every 4 years for the lady to propose. Anything that is a rarity is also deemed as lucky. Anything started on this day is deemed to be successful. The tradition goes back hundreds of years when the leap year day had no recognition in English law. The day had been ‘leapt over’ and ignored. The day had no legal status, meaning that a break in tradition on this day was acceptable.

Proposal Photographer EssexProposal Photographer Essex

The summer Olympic Games are normally held in a Leap Year.

So in these days of equality is this tradtion now outdated? Do women feel that they can propose as equally as a man on any day, or is it just special to keep some traditions? I'll let you ponder that thought while you enjoy your extra day.

Christmas Present Ideas for the Essex Business Owner https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2019/12/christmas-present-ideas-for-the-essex-business-owner Looking for present ideas for the business person in your life?

1. Local Produce

As a businesswoman I love to support other local businesses, and there is none other better than delicious cheese and cream direct from the award winning Bradfields Farm Dairy. I've already ordered mine, and can't wait to taste their new Blackwater cheese. You need to order by 16th, December for this unique gift. Perfect for that Christmas dinner table. Order at http://www.bradfieldsfarm.co.uk/christmas-order-form-2019/

2. Business Development Part 1

I bought this book last year, by fellow Essex business woman Mandie Holgate, called Fight the Fear, How to Beat Your Negative Mindset and Win in Life, and I've not stopped dipping into it for inspiration. The leading non-fiction publishing house Pearson commissioned Mandie to write Fight the Fear after hearing of her reputation as a strong business leader and success with coaching business clients. Fight the Fear offers readers a simple, step by step guide to conquering fears that may impact on people's lives within the work environment, or in their personal lives. It also explores real life case studies and their outcomes. You  can order a copy from Amazon or purchase in W H Smiths.

Last orders 20th, December. You can purchase online at https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/photography-gift-vouchers

4. Business Development Part 2

Taking the book chart by storm, and just shortlisted for the Business Book Awards 2020, is this bestseller from Sean Purcell called MillenniALL.

Is it time to take the millennial generation more seriously?

Fed up with listening to the same lazy stereotypes thrown around about this generation, Sean Purcell sets out the challenges and opportunities facing millennials, and explains why we are entering The Age of the Millennial.

You can purchase the bestseller on Amazon at https://www.amazon.co.uk/MillenniALL-claim-your-future-Millennial/dp/1784521671/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=millennial+sean+purcell&qid=1569508978&s=gateway&sr=8-3&fbclid=IwAR0SF2YryC7esmb6mUKj6p3DI-3OJ0akYOyLmz2ziNd1ujaiwC6VwW5f0P0

5. And relax

A business person quite often doesn't find enough time in their busy lives to look after themselves, so an ideal present would be a gift voucher from The Calm Space. They can be exchanged for Reflexology or Yoga. They give the gift of relaxation - essential for people with busy lives!

They can be purchased at https://thecalmspace.co.uk/relaxation-gift-vouchers/

Just a few ideas for you.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Rochford Hotel Wedding https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2019/9/rochford-hotel-wedding The first wedding of the year for 2019, and I was back at the lovely Rochford Hotel for a spring wedding for Skye and Craig. We had a few showers on the day, but the weather held off for the photos after the ceremony.

The bride and her attendants all got ready at the hotel. The bride wore a beautiful dress from Serena Bridals. I think we can all agree with her dad how stunning she looked. Skye had a colour theme of dusky pink and cream.

Craig looked very dapper in his navy suit, pink waistcoat and cravat that complimented the bridesmaids wonderfully.

When I'm photographing a wedding, I love to capture those images that the bride and groom never get to see during the wedding, and also the whole atmosphere of the day, so I just love this one of the bridesmaid taking a peek at everyone getting ready in the next room.

Craig was a bit nervous on the day, but had his wonderful groomsmen to support him as his beautiful bride swept down the aisle watched by all their family and friends.

After the ceremony there was the chance for group and informal photos of the guests, plus the more private couple portraits for the bride and groom.

The marquee at the Rochford Hotel looked wonderful decked out in pinks and cream for the wedding breakfast.

Everyone then enjoyed a delicious meal cooked by the Rochford Hotel catering team, followed by the after dinner speeches by the father of the bride, groom and the best man.

Top Tips for a Successful Wedding Day https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2019/7/top-tips-for-a-successful-wedding-day As an experienced, Award Winning Wedding Photographer, I have seen a few mishaps on a wedding day, so I thought I'd share some of my top tips to help you plan your own perfect day.

1. Ties and Cravats

Make sure all the groomsmen have practised doing up a tie or cravat, as it is so much harder trying to learn it 30 minutes before the ceremony!

2. Wedding Dresses

If you are having a lace up bodice dress, make sure you practise doing it up beforehand with the person who will be dressing you on the day, and time how long it takes. It always takes longer than anyone thinks , especially when you have long nails and you’re rushing.

3. Shoes

Make sure you've taken your labels off your new shoes, especially if you are going to be kneeling at the alter.

4. Sewing Kit

Don't forget to pack a sewing kit, with matching threads for everyone's outfits, for those last minute disasters plus plenty of safety pins!

5. Suppliers

Make sure you double check the time, date and final details with all your suppliers the week before. It  won’t be the first time I’ve been at a wedding and the car and venue dressers had different dates.

6. Photography

Make sure you print your beautiful wedding photos and don’t leave them in the drawer on a memory stick. Your photographer should be able to offer you exclusive, high quality albums to create you a family heirloom.

If you'd like a hand planning your wedding day, why not pop into our Wedding Planning Community Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/EssexWeddingPlanningCommunity/

Wedding Pantone Colours for 2019 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2018/12/wedding-pantone-colours-for-2019 Wedding Pantone Colours for 2019

The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2019, Living Coral, sees a change to the opposite side of the colour wheel from 2018's Ultraviolet. Living Coral is an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.

Bridesmaids

Dessy doesn't disappoint yet again this year with a fantastic range of bridesmaid dresses. I really like this Jenny Packham dress.

https://uk.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/dessy-collection-3041/?colorid=18#.XBvt-Wngq70

Groomsmen

And Dessy doesn't disappoint for the men either.

https://uk.dessy.com/accessories/aries-slider-ties-on-sale/#.XBvu9Wngq70

Living Coral is a great colour to compliment a navy or a grey suit and I love these colourways.

Wedding Flowers

The Amsterdam Hot Coral Pink Rose would be fantastic in your wedding bouquet.

Wedding Cake

And the rose theme could then transfer beautifully into this stunning cake.

Wedding Favours

And how cute are these two tone wedding favour boxes from Wedding Paraphernalia?

Stationery

The Living Coral and navy colours also compliment each other beautifully for some rather classy invites.

5 Christmas Present Ideas for the Essex Business Person https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2018/12/5-christmas-ideas-for-the-essex-business-person Looking for present ideas for the business person in your life?

1. Local Produce

As a businesswoman I love to support other local businesses, and there is none other better than delicious cheese and cream direct from the award winning Bradfields Farm Dairy. I've already ordered mine, and can't wait to taste their new Chelmer cheese. You need to order by 17th, December for this unique gift. Perfect for that Christmas dinner table. Order at http://www.bradfieldsfarm.co.uk/christmas-order-form-2018/

2. Business Development Part 1

I bought this book earlier this year, by fellow Essex business woman Mandie Holgate, called Fight the Fear, How to Beat Your Negative Mindset and Win in Life, and I've not stopped dipping into it for inspiration.

3. Super Business Branding

Did you know that a brand also includes the people? Customers like to connect with the person behind the business name. There is nothing more powerful than a really good business headshot which puts a face into a brand. I will visit at their place of work, or in a studio, to create that special photo for you. This would give their business a great start to the New Year, so why not buy a headshot gift voucher? Last orders 17th, December. You can purchase online at https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/photography-gift-vouchers

4. Business Development Part 2

Last month I was delighted to make the final of the Brentwood Business Awards for the Sales and Marketing Award. A big part of my success in that was to use a planner for my social media and marketing. I use this beautiful planner from Girls Mean Business, that also comes with a Facebook group, online training portal and regular motivational emails. Last order date is 20th, December. You can order it online at https://www.tgmbshop.com/product/2019-awesome-marketing-planner-system/ref/106/

5. And a Tipple to Finish

And what better way to celebrate Christmas than with locally produced beer from the new The Posh Boys Brewery. You can order on their website or purchase from Costcutters, Alderney Gardens, Wickford.

Just a few ideas for you.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Planning a rustic, vintage wedding? https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2018/7/planning-a-rustic-vintage-wedding I recently got to photograph a different angle of a wedding, by photographing for the wedding planners Monet Events and Weddings, at Houchins. The client brief was for a rustic, vintage wedding, and Monet designed beautiful lights in Mason jars to be hung from the grill in the ceiling at the wonderful barn at Houchins, with ropes entwined with flowers.

The rest of the veue was dressed with handmade, bespoke bunting and lights. The tables were finished with mis-match antique crockery, with centrepieces of teapots and fresh flowers.

I think you will agree with the groom how fantastic the venue looked.

Wedding Pantone Colours for 2018 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2018/2/wedding-pantone-colours-for-2018 So the Colour of the Year for 2017 was Greenery, and this inspired some beautiful shades of green in dresses and some amazing floral decorations.

The Colour of the Year for 2018 is the more vibrant and powerful Ultraviolet.

Volunteers Week 2017 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2017/6/volunteers-week-2017 I have two charities that I support - The Scouts Association and Girlguiding. I volunteer my time for both organisations by running a Brownie pack and being the Social Media Manager for Essex Scouts. I can also be regularly found as part of the media team creating amazing event coverage and all from a tent in the middle of a field.

So May Bank Holiday saw me camping out at Blenheim Palace for the Oxfordshire Scouts County Camp called OxonJam. Here are a few of my favourite images from the event which gave Scouts of all ages a fantastic experience.

Volunteering can be so rewarding and I can't recommend it enough. It has hugely benefited myself and my business. I've also made some amazing friends all over the world as well.

Rochford Hotel Wedding | Rachel and Colin https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2017/5/rochford-hotel-wedding-rachel-and-colin Rachel and Colin's Wedding at the Rochford Hotel

The first wedding of 2017 for me, it was a cold day, but this didn't deter anyone's spirits.

Rachel and her bridesmaids did their preparations at her home, with the lovely Bernice Beaumont as their make up artist. They then travelled to the Rochford Hotel.

They finished their final preparations, including getting into their beautiful dresses. The day was extra special as Rachel was to appear in a programme for TLC TV about dresses for curvy brides and also had a TV film crew enjoying the day. The dress was supplied by Curves and Couture who specialise in curvy and plus size brides.

It wasn't long until Colin arrived and the wedding could begin in the beautiful bridal suite at the Rochford Hotel.

They then enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast prepared by the hotel Chef.

A slideshow of their wedding can be viewed at http://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/wedding-slideshow

Mother's Day or Mothering Sunday? Which is correct? https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2017/2/mothers-day-or-mothering-sunday-which-is-correct We generally refer to the fourth Sunday of Lent as Mother's Day but Mothering Sunday is the correct title. It falls on 26th, March this year. So where did it all begin?

The day can be traced back to Greek and Roman times. The Greeks honoured Rhea the wife of Cronus. The Romans held the spring festival Hilaria which was dedicated to Cybele.

Early Christians honoured the Virgin Mary on the fourth day of Lent. After the prayer service to the Virgin Mary, children would then present gifts and flowers to their own mums. The event was opened out to include all mums in the UK in the 1600s.

Constance Penswick-Smith, a vicar's daughter, launched the Mothering Sunday Movement in 1914. In 1921 she wrote a book asking for  the traditions of Mothering Sunday to be revived. There is a memorial to the revival in Coddington Church, Nottinghamshire.

Wedding Pantone Colours 2017 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2017/1/wedding-pantone-colours-2017 Following on from Pantone taking the unusual step of choosing 2 colours last year, this year they are back to one and have chosen Pantone Greenery for the 2017 Colour of the Year. https://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year-2017

So how can you use Greenery in your wedding theme?

I love these bridesmaids dresses, pageboy outfits and mens accessories from The Dressy Group.

This colour is amazing for wedding flowers and a really natural theme as shown here from Marks and Spencers.  http://www.marksandspencer.com/serene-bouquet/p/p60006625?extid=ps_gglpla_UK_Gen_,Flowers%20&%20Gifts%20_PLAFlowers%20&%20Gifts%20--%3E%20Flowers%20&%20Plants%20--%3E%20Special%20Occasions%20--%3E%20Sympathy%20Flowers_M&S%20Serene%20Bouquet&s_kwcid=AL!2750!3!47119164976!!!g!317415804407!&device=c&s_kwcid=AL!2750!3!47119164976!!!g!!&ef_id=VvAhNAAABZFonghV:20170110201020:s

5 Christmas Present ideas for the Essex Business Woman https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/12/5-christmas-present-ideas-for-the-essex-business-woman Looking for present ideas for the business woman in your life? As a business woman myself I thought I would take a look at some fab ideas for that very busy lady.

1. A book to curl up with

I know one present that is definately on my wishlist, is the book by fellow Essex business woman, Mandie Holgate, called Fight the Fear, How to Beat Your Negative Mindset and Win in Life. The leading non-fiction publishing house Pearson commissioned Mandie to write Fight the Fear after hearing of her reputation as a strong business leader and success with coaching business clients. 2. Business development for the New Year part 1

Networking has helped my business hugely this year, and I'm sure the gift of a Biz'ee Women membership would be a great asset to her business. Biz'ee Women is an ever growing networking group in Essex for all women in business or thinking of starting up. There are regular meetings all around the county on different days meeting at 10am-12pm.

Essex Wedding Awards 2016 Finalist Photographer of the Year https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/11/essex-wedding-awards-2016-finalist-photographer-of-the-year I'm so excited to have made the final of the Essex Wedding Awards 2016 for the Photographer of the Year.

This has been my first year of wedding photography, so imagine my excitement when I received the email telling me that I had made the final in a very tough category.

I had to send a written submission about my business and customer service which included details of my insurance, membership certificates of trade associations, prices, brochures and leaflets. I also had to include samples of my work and products. These were posted before the judging, and on the day I delivered my beautiful black leather 12"x12" wedding album to Orsett Hall. That was on a Wednesday and then I had to wait until the following Monday to get an email to say that I had been successful in getting to the final.

I also included a short slideshow of my work.

So all I need to do is go and find a lovely dress to wear on the 24th, November, and whisk my husband and myself off to Orsett Hall for the Hollywood style black tie event for the final.

I would like to say a big thank you to all my wedding couples this year that have let me be a part of their very special days.

Family Photography Award Winner https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/10/family-photography-award-winner I was delighted to have recently achieved a Graded classification in the Image of the Month competition with The Guild of Photographers with this family photograph.

It was a lovely crisp autumn day, and we had great fun kicking through the leaves on this unused miniature railway track at the local park. Although the autumn colours were beautiful, I really thought this image would look great as a black and white image.

The family really loved their session and chose a selection of images from their day.

Commerical Portrait Session https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/9/commerical-portrait-session I recently had the great pleasure of working with Penelope Morrison Complementary Therapies to develop her a new visual brand for her website and marketing materials.

As a mobile therapist, it was really important to Penelope that people could see her working in a home environment and not so much a spa setting. I also wanted to incorporate Penelope's colours from her branding into the photography.

During the session we photographed Penelope delivering therapies and holding a consultation. We also produced product shots and photos for her training courses.

Her website looks amazing http://www.penelopemorrison.co.uk/

This is what Penelope had to say about the session - "I had a wonderful day working with Tina on photographs for my business website, leaflets etc for re-branding. Fantastic pictures, great creative ideas. I highly recommend Tina Wing Photography."

Developing Your Business Visual Branding Strategy https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/3/your-business-corporate-visual-branding-strategy So you've spent ages developing your corporate brand with logos, straplines, fonts and colour palettes. But have you ever considered your visual brand?

In an ever increasing world of visual imagery, with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Instagram, to name a few, do you have images that a client would instantly associate with you, from your corporate headshot to your products/services?

  Corporate Headshots EssexCorporate Headshots Essex

Think about how more engaging a Facebook post is with photos or videos. How often have you scrolled straight past a post with no image? They say a photo is worth a 1,000 words and this is becoming increasingly more important.

How do you develop your visual branding strategy then? Sit down with a pile of magazines. Look at the photos that appeal to you. Think of the words that you associate with your business personaility along with the colours and textures. Then create your image collage (or Pinterest board) to start developing your visual brand and tell your business story.

Leap Year Traditions and Marriage Proposals https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/2/leap-year-traditions-and-marriage-proposals It is a tradition that ladies can make marriage proposals once every 4 years on 29th, February in a Leap Year.

In Finland the man has to buy the fabric to make the lady a skirt. It is believed that it all started in Ireland when St. Patrick is supposed to have granted St. Bridget one day every 4 years for the lady to propose.

The summer Olympic Games are normally held in a Leap Year.

If you are making a proposal today, will he say yes?

Wedding Pantone Colours of 2016 https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/1/wedding-pantone-colours-of-2016 Pantone recently made waves by choosing not just one, but two colors of the year for 2016.

In an unusual move, they have chosen both the warm pink of Rose Quartz and the cool calming blue Serenity.

So what does that mean for 2016 weddings? We have a look at some of our favourites for the coming year.

We love this men's suit from Zuesfactor.com which would be fab for the groomsmen.

And these bridesmaids dresses from Watters.com are beautiful.

Landscape Photo Award https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2015/4/landscape-photo-award I was really delighted to have been awarded a Highly Commended in the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) monthly competition for Landscapes.

The image was of Showery Tor on Bodmin Moor. When I took the photo, it was a beautiful August day, but there wasn't a sole to be seen. My family flew their kite in the valley below while I explored the Tors. It was very tranquill, with beautiful views out to the Cornish coast in one direction, moorland in the other, with Brown Willy in the distance. The area is renown for having its own weather micro-climate known as the Brown Willy effect.

I was awarded Highly Commended for the black and white image. I think this really shows the contrast in the stones. But do you prefer it in colour?

Mother's Day or Mothering Sunday? https://www.tinawingphotography.co.uk/blog/2015/3/mothers-day We generally refer to the fourth Sunday of Lent as Mother's Day but Mothering Sunday is the correct title. It falls on 15th, March this year.

For me Mothering Sunday is usually a busy day. It normally starts with cooking lunch for my mother-in-law and then I meet up with my sisters to have tea with my mother. This year I will also be photographing another special mum with her family on an environmental canal themed photo session.

If you would like to purchase vouchers for a present for your mother, or would like photos taken at our pop-up studio event on 14th, March, please phone us on 07927 515996.
